Sene West DCE Tours Zonal Sports Centres During Inter-School Tournament

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sene West District – Hon. Khaari Fuseini paid a working visit to various zonal sports centres on Friday, February 20, 2026, as part of activities marking the ongoing inter-school sports competition for Basic and Junior High Schools in the district.

The tournament, organized by the District Education Directorate under the Ghana Education Service (GES), forms part of the official school curriculum aimed at promoting holistic development among pupils. It seeks to foster unity, discipline, and the discovery of sporting talents among young learners.

During the visit, the DCE toured multiple competition venues, including the Kyeamekrom, Drobe, Kwame Danso Senior High Technical School, Kwame Town Park, and Bantama zonal sports centres, where Under-13 and Under-15 matches were underway.

He was accompanied by several key stakeholders, including the District Director of the Ghana Education Service, the Assistant Director IIA of the Sene West District Assembly, the Public Relations Officer and Physical Education Coordinator of the District Education Directorate, the Presiding Member of the District Assembly, and a media representative from Difference TV.

The tournament featured two main categories: Under-13 (male-only teams) and Under-15 (both male and female teams), with pupils from various schools participating.

Addressing athletes, officials, and organizers at the various centres, the DCE expressed appreciation to the District Education Directorate, teachers, and all stakeholders for ensuring the successful organization of the competition. He commended the peaceful nature of the games and urged students to remain committed to both their academic and sporting activities.

He also emphasized the importance of fairness in officiating, calling on referees and match officials to perform their duties with diligence and integrity. According to him, such competitions play a vital role in nurturing discipline and teamwork among the youth.

In further support of the tournament, the DCE acknowledged the contribution of the Member of Parliament for the Sene West Constituency, Hon. Ampofo Twumasi, who donated essential sporting equipment to enhance the competition. The items included three trophies, three sets of jerseys, six footballs for each zonal centre, and cash prizes for participating teams.
