WOMEN VISIT TO ANIMAL PRODUCTION

The Modernization of Agriculture in Ghana program focuses on empowering rural women in agriculture to reduce poverty. Implemented by the Department of Agriculture in the Sene West District, the program aims to integrate Good Agricultural Practices into policy while providing technical services to women farmers. A recent training session targeted poultry production, addressing the minimal technical know-how among rural women. Fifty participants from various groups and individuals attended, engaging in interactive sessions covering topics like breeding, housing, feeding, and disease management. Participants showed enthusiasm and commitment, promising to apply newfound knowledge to improve their livelihoods. The success of the training, marked by full participation and active engagement, highlights a positive step towards women’s empowerment in agriculture. Recommendations include providing startup packages to motivated participants and continued monitoring of their progress by agricultural authorities.
