In a decisive action to protect public health and ensure food safety, the Environmental Health Unit of the Sene West District recently conducted an operation at Kyeamekrom, to seize and responsibly dispose of expired food products found in local markets and retail establishments. This initiative highlights the district’s commitment to maintaining high food quality standards and safeguarding residents’ well-being.
During the operation, thorough inspections were carried out across markets and retail outlets to identify and remove expired food items that could pose health risks. A significant quantity of expired goods, including canned and packaged items, was confiscated to prevent potential health hazards. Additionally, the Environmental Health Unit led awareness campaigns to educate consumers and vendors on the importance of checking expiration dates and ensuring food quality. Collaborating with law enforcement agencies and market associations, the Environmental Health Unit demonstrated the district’s dedication to health and safety.

The operation also underscored responsible governance, as confiscated items were disposed of in an environmentally safe manner. Mr. Godwin Amponsah, the District Health Officer, emphasized the district’s commitment to prioritizing residents’ safety and well-being. Moving forward, the Environmental Health Unit will maintain vigilant monitoring and rigorous enforcement to prevent the sale of substandard food products. Vendors are urged to comply fully, and residents are encouraged to report any suspicious food items. This initiative exemplifies the district’s determination to foster a safe and health-conscious environment for all community members
