SEWDA INAUGRATES BANTAMA AREA COUNCIL

The Sene West District Assembly has officially inaugurated the Bantama Area Council, marking an important step toward bringing local governance closer to the people.

The ceremony, led by the District Coordinating Director (DCD) – Braimah Sakuru, brought together Assembly Members, Unit Committee Members, heads of departments, and community members. In his address, the DCD highlighted the key role Area Councils play in promoting development at the grassroots level and encouraged members to serve their communities with dedication and integrity.

He explained that the Bantama Area Council will act as a direct link between the District Assembly and the communities under its jurisdiction, helping to identify local needs, support development initiatives, and ensure government programs reach the people who need them most.

Members of the newly inaugurated council were reminded of their responsibilities, including supporting sanitation activities, mobilizing local revenue, engaging communities, and promoting peace and unity within the area.

Community members present welcomed the inauguration and expressed hope that the council would help address local challenges and speed up development in the Bantama area.

The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Bantama Area Council to ensure it effectively delivers on its mandate for the benefit of the people.
