SENE WEST DISTRICT MARKS 67TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

On March 6, 2024, the Sene West District Assembly convened at the Kwame Danso R/C School Park to mark the 67th Independence Day celebration. The theme for this year, “Our Democracy, Our Pride,” was highlighted throughout the festivities, aiming to underscore the significance of democracy and national unity to the community.

The event comprised speeches, a march procession, demonstrations of marching skills by students, and the recognition of deserving schools and students. Notable attendees included District Chief Executive Hon. John Nyarba, Member of Parliament for Sene West Constituency Hon. Twumasi Ampofo, Chief Executive Officer for Middle Belt Hon. Joseph Kumah Mackay, District Coordinating Director Mr. Braimah Sakuru, and District Education Director Mr. Richard K. Boateng. Assistant Superintendent Ampofo, the District Police Commander, and the Presiding Member for the Sene West District Assembly, alongside other assembly members and traditional leaders, were also present. The procession saw participation from numerous schools, contributing to its vibrant atmosphere.

In his address, District Chief Executive Hon. John Nyarba emphasized the importance of upholding peace and democracy, particularly with the upcoming general elections in December. He reminded the audience that for the nation to progress, democracy must always be accompanied by peace and unity.

The awards ceremony honored exceptional performances in various categories, including the best performance in the 2024 parade and outstanding students in the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Both public and private school students were commended for their achievements in the 2023 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examinations.
