The Sene West District Assembly has organized an orientation and capacity-building training for revenue collectors as part of efforts to strengthen internally generated revenue mobilization within the district.
The training, which was held on January 29, 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Assembly, brought together newly recruited and existing revenue collectors, as well as internal auditors, budget officers, and account officers.
The initiative, funded through the Assembly’s Internally Generated Fund (IGF), formed part of a broader strategy to equip staff with the necessary skills and knowledge required to improve revenue performance and enhance efficiency in service delivery.
During the opening session, management emphasized the importance of demand-driven capacity building to address performance gaps within the Assembly. The training provided participants with the opportunity to identify challenges in revenue collection and explore practical solutions to improve their work performance.
The training sessions covered a wide range of topics including the roles and responsibilities of revenue collectors, performance tracking, legal frameworks guiding revenue mobilization, identification of revenue sources, registration of ratepayers, and effective billing and collection processes.
To ensure effective learning, the training employed various participatory methods such as lectures, brainstorming sessions, group discussions, and presentations, allowing participants to actively engage and share experiences.
Feedback from participants indicated a high level of satisfaction, with many noting that the training met their expectations and significantly improved their understanding of revenue management processes.
At the end of the workshop, it was anticipated that the enhanced capacity of revenue collectors would contribute to improved compliance with revenue procedures and support the overall development agenda of the Assembly.
