As part of its social protection efforts in the first quarter of the year, the Sene West District Assembly has provided support to 90 Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) to enhance their livelihoods and promote inclusion.
The initiative, organized by the Social Welfare and Community Development Office of the Assembly, saw beneficiaries receive various forms of assistance, including cash support, refrigerators, commercial fufu pounding machines, and other essential items to aid their economic activities.
Speaking on the intervention, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Khaari Fuseini, reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to empowering vulnerable groups and improving their quality of life. He noted that supporting persons with disabilities remains a key priority in advancing inclusive development and reducing poverty within the district.
He further explained that the support is intended to help beneficiaries engage in income-generating ventures while easing financial constraints and enhancing their independence.
The Social Welfare and Community Development Office emphasized that the activity forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure that persons with disabilities are actively included in the district’s development agenda and are provided with the needed resources to thrive.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful in improving their livelihoods and offering renewed hope for economic self-sufficiency.
