The Sene West District Assembly held its second ordinary assembly meeting on Thursday 20th May, 2021 at the Assembly Hall premises to deliberate and legislate on developmental issues of the district.

The meeting was presided by Hon. Adu K. Thompson who welcomed colleague Assembly Members, Units/Departmental heads and other dignitaries present at the meeting.

The house deliberated on issues including;

Extension of electricity to Lemu health facility to make it operational

The District Engineer indicated that electricity was extended to the facility through the acquisition of a meter from the VRA and that the facility is currently functional.

Public sensitization on registration of PWDs onto the NHIS.

The Social Welfare and Community Development officer explained to the house that enough sensitization was carried out on local information service centers as well as the radio station. He added that the exercise has yielded results beyond expectation and the department was not going to relent on the public education

Removal of tree around the Kwame Danso town park:

The DCD explained that the recommendation has been fully implemented as was adopted by the house. He said Hon. members who took that particular stretch of the road testify. He took the opportunity to thank the Environmental Health and Sanitation unit for carrying out that task.

Continues sensitization on the observation of COVID-19 protocols.

The District Director of the Ghana Health service indicated that the Assembly has made effort to support in public sensitization on the need to adhere to all the safety protocols. He said the campaign was currently running on the Sene Fm and other local information service centers.

Recommendations from Executive Committee.

The executive committee made the following recommendations for management to take actions on them;

Desilt the drains around the central business town.

Provide Trial Balance to F&A committee Members.

Embark on public education on rate collection

Involve Hon. Assembly Members in the implementation of projects and programmes in the electoral area.

Repair all broken down boreholes to avoid water shortage in the dry season.

Collaborate with Zoomlion Ghana Ltd. to ensure that refuse containers are emptied as and when the containers are full.

The Hon. Presiding Member thanked his colleagues and all those who were able to honor the invitation. He called on his colleagues to help propel the development of the district.
