The Sene West District Assembly has presented 29 motorcycles to its members to facilitate their duties.
On behalf of the District Chief Executive, Mr. Eric K. Saabome (the District Coordinating Director), who handed over the motorcycles to assembly members from various electoral areas during a brief ceremony in Kwame Danso, said the gesture was part of the local government’s commitment of empowering and equipping assembly members as a means of deepening democracy at the grassroots level.
He did, however, instruct the recipients to get the necessary riding documents and added that all assembly members use the motorcycles for their intended purposes and to efficiently handle them to prolong their lifespan.
Mr. Adu Kwabena Thompson, the presiding member of the Sene West District Assembly, who received the motorcycles on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the government and the assembly, adding that they will guarantee all safety standards for riding these motorcycles. He therefore advised all beneficiaries to use the motorcycles to reach out to the people and to monitor development activities in their various electoral areas.
A step in the right direction.
Assembly Members deserve to be treated better, I suggest they are given any allowances due them at the exact time without arrears. When there’s a delay in payment of such allowances it kills the spirit and defeat the purpose for which it is meant for.
