On June 29, 2022, at the Assembly’s forecourt, the Sene West District Assembly gave goods and money worth GHC 65,000 to 36 people with disabilities.
The recipients, who were divided between nine (9) women and twenty-seven (27) men, were given wheelchairs, deep freezers, fufu pounding machines, as well as funds for medical care, small trade, farming, and animal husbandry.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. John Nyarba, stated in a short address that the purchases were made using the 5% disability fund withdrawal from the Assembly Common Fund. He emphasized that because recipients may only get benefits from the fund once, he recommended them to use the goods and money for their intended purposes to raise their standard of living.
Mr. Owusu Appaiah, the District Director of Social Welfare and Community Development, remarked that some beneficiaries were utilizing the commodities that had been given to them in the past to empower themselves during the department’s monitoring operation.
He instructed them to utilize the products wisely to better themselves since he said the recipients will be observed to determine their level of progress.
Among dignitaries who graced the mini occasion were the District Social Welfare Director, District Finance Officer, a representative of the DCE, Members of the DFMC, and staff of the department.
